A funny sweet intriguing one person show that highlights real socioeconomic crises--this play is engaging and it's character is so beautifully three dimensional--I found myself rooting for Pedro immediately so when that call goes through it's such a great moment of catharsis!

What a beautiful piece that deals with the apathy, empathy, heartbreak and grief we are facing in classrooms surrounding gun violence--this play hurts in the best way and the empathy of Sandra is so lovely to read--the mental image of the kid locked outside of the door caught in the violence, real or pretend, is stunning. I definitely recommend this piece to any ten minute festival!

This is an interesting and unfortunately necessary think piece in reversing the very real issues women in this country are facing--this play holds no punches and is painful and cathartic to experience! I definitely recommend this!

A fun play about our addiction to our phones and what happens when we decide to "Go off the grid"--Pipes has a way with language that makes even the most inhuman character like a cellphone sound human

A bold and clever look at dealing with shame from purity culture! Kaitlyn is a brave new writer with a necessary voice--she is an incredibly calculated and deliberate writer and I want to read more!

A great TYA read for those looking for plays for a high school audience with a big cast to fill! It tackles heavy themes and dramatic messages while all staying looped in the fun and new threads of high school borrowing from the tropes of the kinds of students we often see and allowing us to dig deeper into a more nuanced truth of them! Shuttee is a writer with bite in his plays and even this one for youth has such a valuable truth for us to hear. Shuttee has quickly become my favorite new writer.

A great one act play about a father who just can't accept that his daughter has in some ways outgrown him--this play has so much heart and so much biting truth you can't help but want to rage alongside Cassidy! Do yourself a favor and check out this play and writer!

Very rarely do plays make me have such strong emotions that I leave the theatre shaking and when I find them I talk about them all the time--this is a play I'll be talking about the rest of my life. It's moving and funny and visceral and scary and it's a play that's relevant to our world RIGHT NOW. If you get a chance seriously RUN and see or read this play. It's one of the best pieces of theatre I've read in a while and it doesn't hold punches! This playwright has such a mastery of their theatricality.
  • SURVIVORS, AN ALAMO PLAY

I saw a production of this play at Texas State University and the absolute depth that Bender has managed to embed in these titans of historical narrative is astounding. The moments of where all three of the women come together to live, discuss, and actively experience their sides of the battle of the Alamo left chills as I witnessed the show. It's a beautifully rich play with so much attention To detail--even as someone who lives by the Alamo, this play transported me there instantly. It's a great read if you're looking for a juicy story to dive into today!

I love every second of this play, it has so much heart, so much vulnerability. Majok understands how to pry people apart in a way that's healing and cathartic to the reader. This play shakes you, and that's what I want my theatre to do.
