I write comedies, dramedies and absurdities about how people, desperate to connect, hurt each other and themselves — especially when they don’t mean to and have no idea why.

I love where funny meets awful.

I focus on the spiritual, physical, emotional, and social lives of women. Women need their stories told, especially onstage.

As a former physical actor, I find writing to be a physical act; so my characters find themselves in over-the-top physical situations. They move though space and take big, messy, misguided actions.

I worship theatricality. Characters’ points-of-view express themselves not just in dialogue but also in sound, light, scenic design, props, circus skills, and time.

The souls of dead girls, not yet settled in the Underworld, hover over the River Styx. A mother and daughter tread water up to their necks as the polar ice caps melt. Characters try to keep themselves safe, but that’s the most dangerous thing of all. Their only salvation, it seems, is to make a connection — even if fleeting or uncertain — and then, if need be, let go.
