Artistic Statement
Despite our best intentions and and as a result of our frequent cluelessness in action, we often find ways to make bad decisions. And many times we have ourselves convinced that we have done these things for good reasons.
I like to write about decent people doing stupid or terrible things. For one, there's no shortage of source material. In much of our checkered history it's been the "normal" people who've committed a lot of the awfulness.
I think theatre is at its best when it answers the question <How on Earth could you do something like that?>, at the same time coaxing the audience to, if somewhat dubiously, understand someone else's actions. And I like to make people laugh.
