Artistic Statement

My writing has been shaped by my background, being from a household of both Italian and Grenadian roots. West Indians are natural storytellers. Bringing these stories to life on stage is a very important part of my process. With an MFA in my pocket, I have the tools to become the writer I have always wanted to be, one who writes her truth through stage. August Wilson and George C Wolfe are two of my favorite Playwrights. My goal is to write works that challenge the mind and allow an audience member to walk away thinking about what they just saw for days to come.

Plays I write ask the questions “How long can I hide this?” and “What am I willing to sacrifice to keep it safe?” Loneliness in the world and the emptiness that comes through that world is a central theme in my work.
