I am a female playwright whose writing revolves mostly around politics and global issues. I think the idea persists that there are types of stories that women write and there are types of stories that men write, whether it be for the theater, film, or books. Women are thought to be preoccupied with love and romance, whereas men write about more “serious” subjects. But in reality some of my favorite love stories are written by men, and female playwrights are exploring every subject under the sun.
