Donaldson, Taylor and Breuer--a Female Engagement Team--go on another mission into a suburb of Baghdad. A week prior, their previous C.O., Lt. Cass, was killed due to an ambush. Donaldson believes Cass was killed because Breuer did not shoot an Iraqi boy armed with an AK-47. Because of this, Donaldson bullies Breuer, repeatedly requesting that Breuer be taken off the mission. Taylor, who shot the boy, is receiving a Silver Star for her action. As the evening progresses, Donaldson finds out the truth--that Breuer was the one who shot the boy and Taylor is taking credit for the kill. This puts Donaldson into a tailspin as they set out on the mission. During the raid on the house, they interrogate Safia as to the location of her son--a suspected
insurgent. Donaldson, in the house, is caught in a kill zone. Taylor rescues her. Safia, outside, continually baits Breuer, causing her to shoot Safia. Breuer is tried and sent to Leavenworth where Donaldson visits her in an effort to come to terms with the events of that night.
