Over Here

by Meron Langsner

Set in New York City in the Summer of 2002, the growing friendship between an Israeli immigrant and a Palestinian-American is put into crisis by both local prejudices and events overseas.

A crisply dialogued piece that starts with high stakes and keeps raising them before you can get comfortable. Despite, or perhaps because of, its setting, this tight piece speaks to the struggle between any two people from different walks of life that are "supposed" – or even have real reasons – to hate each other, as well as the outsider complexities both can experience. Having seen the NYC Fringe production, onstage it has all the bite one expects from reading the script, and keeps one thinking long after curtain.

A horrifying and powerfully accurate glimpse into the biases that continue to separate us. It's amazing how our identities can make or break us from those who would hold it against us. Incredibly well done!

An (unfortunately still) timely, moving, and unsentimental play that makes the political personal more effectively than most things I've read or seen. The play is very real, very funny, and ultimately very sad. It's also (not incidentally) small-cast and very easy to produce!
