Matthew Snow, a life-embracing renaissance man living on the fringe, arrives at the Hamptons home of his college friend Len and his wife Jane. He brings with him a 1,200 page manuscript and a still-burning desire to live life to the fullest.
"...and thanks, for the trouble you took from her eyes
I thought it was there for good so I never tried"
- from Leonard Cohen's Famous Blue Raincoat

A fascinating and explosive tale we can't turn away from, a love triangle that locks us in and shows us that love can cross over any boundaries. We ache as we examine our lives, as we long to dance freely, but there are rules to obey. Spellbinding!

Eugene O'Neill Theater Center:
Famous Blue Raincoat
by Robert Emmet Lunney
“
It is the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's pleasure to recommend Robert Lunney and their play "Famous Blue Raincoat" as a finalist for our 2015 National Playwrights Conference. The play rose through a competitive, anonymous, multileveled selection process that took nearly nine months to execute. As one of 59 finalists out of more than 1,300 submissions, it is the value of the page that has allowed this work to prosper in such a competitive selection process. Our readers responded to the well-drawn, balanced trio that upends an outwardly straightforward love triangle.
