Air Space

by Tori Keenan-Zelt

As Glory and Kyle try to flip a falling-down house in an abandoned neighborhood, they discover that the evicted owners have been living secretly in a hollowed-out wall. A surreal comedy about what happens when a new generation tries to build something from the broken pieces another generation hasn't given up yet.

In the opening note to the script, the playwright remarks: “This play starts slightly to-the-side-of-our-world and grows into its own dream, as I think
our world has done. Everything that happens is both true and impossible, as theatre is.” I feel like that was a good lamp post to read by. Air Space feels like Albee’s A Delicate Balance meets Christopher Guest. I found it eerie, unsettling, and endearingly bizarre.

Tori's plays are like the best sort of delectable little hard candies you find yourself often craving - sweet and sour and savory and unlike anything else your palate craves. AIR SPACE is truly thrilling in really theatrical ways.

Air Space is a fantastic, experimental piece that pulls audiences in by their hearts and minds. Characters are extremely dynamic, situations incredibly theatrical, and the set begs to be seen onstage. I cannot recommend this play enough.
