My recommendation is based on finding a selection from Face It in the collection of monologues called She Persisted (a gift from my partner). I used it for my on camera acting class and every time I went through it found more pathos, more humor and more affection for and curiosity about her character Eliza. Weinberg's writing is so specific, so tight, that a million possibilities splinter forth before the phrase is done. Very excited to continue reading it now that I've found it on NPX.

"Face It, or The Transmogrification of Eliza Kline" is a fast-moving, hilariously dark look into the crumbling psyche of an aging actress, written with a surgeon's skill. Funny, touching, and with Weinberg's clear-eyed, truthful gaze, this comedy takes a hard look at the truths of out youth-and-beauty obsessed culture, and has some very satisfying things to say.
