After pulling her out of traffic, Jack meets Lorraine, a quirky housewife with real problems. He comes to find that she only has thirteen weeks to live, and convinces Jack to bring her to his pitch session to pitch a 13-week reality television program. He obliges, only to have it greenlit by his ex-girlfriend and successful producer, Bridgette. The next few weeks propels them all into a journey where reality isn't what it seems. Jack is assigned a camera and a crew of one and filming continues, episodes air, bloggers blog about the world's rapidly changing landscape, and fan pages are created through Lorraine's cult following, things don't seem right. Lorraine isn't looking any sicker (much to the disappointment of corporate) and there are talks of selling Lorraine's possessions to the highest bidder at auction. Jack does his part in making reality as real as possible and managing the family in the best way he knows how.

Jeanette Farr is an important voice for our generation. “In Observance of Lorraine Black” is a thoroughly imaginative experiment in the “new world” concept of reality (television). Experiencing humanity through this play allows me to better understand my neighbors, my students, and the world I live in. Thank you, Jeanette for giving us such a thoughtful piece.
