Jewish Plays Project selected THE LAST NIGHT as a Semi-Finalist out of 270 plays in our 2nd Ten Minute Play Contest “On One Foot”, which searched nationally from artists of all backgrounds to respond to our prompt “Moving Forward at the Edge of the Unknown”. Our readers connected with how well it responded to the prompt as the characters are on the emotional precipice of parenthood as well as grief, and asks poignant and tender dramatic questions.

STEPHEN KAPLAN’s play touched my heart. It’s never easy to lose a loved one. We want to hold onto to the joy they gave us. Most especially, we yearn for another touch, another hug, another sound of their voice. So, if we have one last thing, such as an unopened present, we think of keeping it, as is, so our loved one, in a way, ‘stays alive’. “The Last Night” is an “Oh, my” play, which I completely loved reading.

Beautiful and touching. Holidays are hard, especially when we are missing those we love. This play touches us, moves us, and gives us hope.
