“My Child – Mothers of War” is an honest look into the lives of American mothers
who have dealt with sending their sons to war.
This Play (based an award winning documentary with the same name) is comprised of
mothers, a rich human dictionary, defining and re-defining the meaning of the words:
patriotism, peace, loyalty, democracy, duty, and sacrifice. The ramifications of the war
are discussed powerfully within the film but in a way that focuses with our common
humanity.
The women represent very different opinions about war, politics, social and cultural
issues. Despite these strong differences, as mothers they all share a limitless love for
their children – children who have been killed, maimed, and are in daily peril of their
lives or who have the courage to refuse service. All they want is a world in which they
can live in peace, but at what cost?
