Zaynab, a funny and lively girl in Fallujah, blogs from her home during the American invasion in 2003. Her romantic dreams of her cousin collide with the reality of war, until Zaynab turns to the moon for help.

Inspired by the blogs of teenage girls from Iraq during what Iraqis refer to as "the American war," and the great in-depth reporting and books of the fearless late Anthony Shadid.

Zaynab is also a character in my full-length play, YOU ARE DEAD. YOU ARE HERE. developed in collaboration with director Joseph Megel and media designer Jared Mezzocchi.

A fantastic capture of life during the "American war" in Iraq. With a humorous touch, an important and necessary story is told. Great work.

Beautiful short play that we had the pleasure to produce in our (Re)Acts series. That installment was one focused on the #RefugeeCrisis and this was a real standout piece. Looking back on that night in light of the events of the last few days (this was written on 31 January 2017 as the Immigration Ban is dominating the headlines) the play has only become more necessary. This play is perfect for bridging our experience to that of a young girl whose world is literally crumbling around her.
