ACCIDENTAL DEATH, a ten minute play

Leah Langley hits and kills a man at night in Lynn, Ma. Officer Vernon Johnson has the task of questioning the befuddled old woman. In the course of questioning he not only discovers that she knew the victim, but that Rick Oliveiras had been her grand daughter's drug dealer and murderer. A lucky coincidence, "Act of God" as Leah states, or vehicular homicide?

This is the type of play that people will be talking about and debating after the show. It wrestles well with a moral gray area.

  • John David Westby: ACCIDENTAL DEATH, a ten minute play

This short play offers a tense and morally thorny encounter between an elderly driver and a weary police officer. At first it seems to play on the dotty old woman driver motif and then it springs a change and transforms into a provocative meditation on justice, grief, and revenge. A deceptively simple two-hander with a sharp ethical edge.

  • Cassie M. Seinuk: ACCIDENTAL DEATH, a ten minute play

Profound play about the justice system and who gets to live and who gets to walk. Like always, Anne dives into a hard topic and manages to create characters with levity and grace. Strong work!
