Led by the enigmatic and cocksure Dr. Freeze, the company is in position to become a full-service facility for all fertility needs, second to none. As Denise takes the audience on a tour of the company and its clientele, she starts noticing strange new policies being put into place and begins to question if something more sinister is at play. Eggs on Ice is a satirical play about the egg freezing industry and how it markets to young professional women, preying and capitalizing on their fears and insecurities under the guise of helping them to “have it all”.

I loved the heightened satirical tone of this play, the way it seems to exist just outside of our reality. Reyes does a great job of satirizing the egg freezing industry and its less savory side as a cash grab that preys on vulnerable women under the guise of "have it all" feminism. At the same time, the play acknowledges that these sorts of treatments do serve a purpose and give women more control over their lives and their reproduction. Egg-cellent stuff (sorry I couldn't help it please forgive me).

This play comes from such a place of passion and provocativeness. I really appreciated the perspective it took on the pressures women (and really, those with child-bearing abilities) face with trying to balance their ambitions and their desire to have a family. I loved getting to know and understand the perspective of each of the characters. More female roles like these please!!

This play was a treat to work on in our Women's Voices Festival! It is contemporary, full of humor, topical, and has a strong point of view. It is clever and leaves you thinking and laughing. Kristine is a joy to work with too!
