Reunion

by Nandita Shenoy

At their 25th reunion of a private high school in upstate New York, 5 classmates and one significant other find themselves confronting the most painful episodes from their teenage years. As their pasts catch up with them, they each must find a way to forge new futures. A play that suggests perhaps you can’t go home again.

This was a pleasure to co-produce with Riverside Theatre as part of Mirrorbox Theatre's "Out the Box" series. Nandita's writing has a beautiful effortless quality that sounds so very believable. I felt like I knew every single one of these characters.

Truly, the art of subtlety is rare and present not only in the dialogue, but in the smart ways she tweaks the expectations that come along with the form of the reunion play.

Highly recommended, and an especially juicy piece for a talented ensemble.

A revealing piece as friends reunite and confront the realizations we have about the culture and societal structure we grew up in as we move forward in our lives. Well done.
