Strange Fruit

by Christopher Fok

SHORT: Damien Hearse [sic] is looking for a new artwork for his third house. And he is just enamoured by this new art piece 'Strange Fruit' much to the horror of Pandera Snoot, the art dealer. In their push and pull and cutting arguments about art, his art specifically, they end up discovering that all that academic talk still falls short of describing life.

A fabulous debate about art and taste turns gruesome. Well done.

This powerful short play calls for masks, trained movement, and an experienced director. Like much of Mr. Fok's work, the piece (happily, joyously) asks a great deal of it's artists and, too, of it's audience. The play blends traditional movement style with contemporary dialogue and pop culture references. An audience will long remember this piece after the curtain falls.
