I found myself wondering if the soldiers on this plan, and the nurse charged with their endless care, were headed away from the battle or toward it. As a civilian I assume the flight home would be celebratory, but these songs and stories tell a very different story. Creative lyrics and drama around them makes for an excellent short play.

A moving and heartfelt drama that packs a tremendous punch into a short play. Nurse Elsie Ott ministers as best she can to three men sent home from war, each struggling with their own wounds and demons. Features four powerful and distinct roles, that actors can really sink their teeth into.

DANIELLE WIRSANSKY’s “Million Dollar Wound” has many layers: Fear, regret, tragedy. The three soldiers are each powerful characters, who are themselves forced to bear so much pain. They are returning home, but their battle is not over by any means. They have to deal with lost relationships, continued pain and suffering, nightmares of horrible events. And there is the courageous efforts of Elsie Ott, who did so much to administer to these wounded soldiers. This is a wonderful short play.
