This sucker punch of a coming out story reveals in its clever structure myriad levels of fear and, alternatively, strength that can emerge from this difficult situation. Mr. Simpatico heightens the terror of possibility--not only for the son, but for the father as well. A really smart and challenging play for any company looking to produce LGBTQ stories.

Saw this last night at the Funhouse! What an emotional journey filled with such raw pain and imagery throughout. Such a great play to see on stage and so glad it was part of the night's line-up!

If you're a new director (studying Intro to Directing in class) or an accomplished director (who's looking for a piece for a GLBTQ showcase) this is a smart choice. Why? Because it offers so much oppportunity for exploration -- tension, spectacle, use of stage space. Simpatico does more in this short play -- theatrically and emotionally -- that most playwrights in a full-length. Check it out.
