little moons

The ten-minute play "little moons" is a sweet and silly meditation on finding love and connection in unexpected places. In the piece, two characters come together to witness a solar eclipse while wearing hydrating face masks and listening to Debussy's Clair de Lune. You know, normal things. The play is a reminder that love and magic are real - we just have to remember to keep ourselves open to experiencing them...

I caught this at "10 to Places" by Heart Rep. It was such a sweet exploration of love and connection, but it also captured that shared moment in time when we, as a society, connected over the shared experienced the solar eclipse. Really lovely!

An eclipse is really built like a theatrical event in itself, & this play does a really charming job of working with the drama & absurdity provided by the sky.

I love that this play brings up more questions than it answers. It's both beautifully poetic and undeniably strange, and it invites the audience to wonder what might happen next.

Character Information

I've written this for a woman and a man. This is not necessarily important in the staging. People of any gender identity and in any combination can play these parts, because anyone can fall in love. They can be any age, but should have a youngness of spirit. Also, these should not both be white people.
  • Young Woman
    nervously hopeful
  • Young Man
    ready (but scared)
