2pm in Faith, Nebraska

Something strange is happening in the small town of Faith. An unexplained phenomenon in the middle of a pine forest turns neighbor against neighbor, order into chaos, and weird...into weirder. 2pm in Faith, Nebraska is a play about our essential thirst for awe and connection with something--anything--greater than we are.

This play was a pleasure to direct. What started out as a fun, quirky read became a staging that was tender, heartwarming, and honest. It lends itself to both DIY resourcefulness and entertaining theatricality. I love that the point of the play isn't to emphasize love or some master narrative; it is about connection between individuals. The fact that those individuals are hilariously quirky makes it all the better. In this play, the author was able to achieve that rare combination of comedy and pathos.

Not only 2PM in Faith, Nebraska very funny, but it is also innately theatrical. The situations are odd, but remain gripping. I particularly like the randomness of the humor. I highly recommend this play. Bravo to K.T.Peterson for their unique voice.

I directed this play at the Iowa Playwrights Workshop, and it is such a delight. It is thoughtful and profound in a way that most farces are not, and it was an endless joy for the actors, designers, and crew. It was very well received, even (and especially!) by audience members who don't often see this kind of raucous comedy. I would recommend it for production anywhere!
