Snapped Shot

Summary:
A small-town photographer suddenly cannot take his usual award-winning photos of grisly accident scenes without getting sick. Usually numb to people’s tragedies, he struggles with how to save his job or welcome the feeling of empathy he begins to experience with an accident victim.

I just read this play again and I have to comment....again. This play takes you to places your soul often resists. Look, don't look, stare, don't stare. Do your job or save a life. What is right and what is just morbidly sad. Is empathy your job? Are you human? A must read.

Greg Abbott has a way of bringing you in and once you're in, there's no escape. How often do we look at print journalist photos and ask ourselves how on earth can a real person take the shot instead of dropping the camera and helping the victim? What kind of person can be so removed from humanity? How do they turn it off and just 'do their job.' The award winning photographer Bob is such a person. But then something happens, something horrendous, something grisly and Bob will never be the same again.
