KATIE and DOM are 20-something work friends who share a cramped office at a small Boston nonprofit and bond quickly over the bland weirdness of the job neither of them really wants. During a game of Never Have I Ever to pass the time, Katie accidentally Really Over-Shares about her personal life and Dom jumps at the chance to support her and become real friends. Katie, just beginning the hard work of dealing with her anxiety and chasing better for herself with her good-humored therapist DR. CHARLENE, apprehensively accepts his clumsy offer of help. Meanwhile, Dom’s effortlessly cool girlfriend JULES worries over his interest in Katie, and wonders what life would be like as Just Jules. With well-meaning support from Katie’s rock star best friend MELISSA and Dom’s college bros JAKE and AARON, Katie and Dom attempt the other hard work of letting an unexpected friendship change their lives. "Katie and Dom Are Friends" is a messy comedy about honoring your friendships, honoring your needs, and getting out of your own goddamn way.
