Small-time criminal, Edward James, just tried to rob the wrong person at gun-point: The Goddess of Time. For his penance, Edward is now forced to confront his poor life choices across the “rope” of time. His guide, Jimmy “The Cricket,” journeys with him to the past and future to confront who he used to be, his future love interests, and the sons he will one day leave behind...think the Ghetto-Ghost of Christmas past, or It’s a Wonderful Life (but the Spike Lee version). The Crook’Ed Timeline is an existential time-travel play about the futility of change, the inevitability of loss, and the paradox of needing and not-needing someone at the same time. Written in prose and spoken word poetry, The Crook’Ed Timeline explores how we all live outside of the present and the impact it has on who we were destined to be.

Playwrights Foundation enthusiastically recommends this play, THE CROOK'ED TIMELINE, as a Semi-Finalist for the Bay Area Playwrights Festival 2020. We were moved by the quality of the writing and the relevant and compelling themes that spoke to the mission of our festival. It excelled in a competitive process of 735 plays submitted this year and rose to the top after a six month long process discussing its merits with both national and local Bay Area readers, and we hope it moves swiftly towards production.
