However, unlike other supposed apparitions of the Virgin, these children continued to see her, each and every day, for over 3 years. During a socialist upheaval when religion of any kind was a dangerous undertaking, the visionaries Vicka, Maria and Jacob stand by their word, even as they were poked, prodded, and endlessly questioned by local and national officials. Are their visions real proof of the existence of God? But what exactly is proof, and how much of it is necessary in order for the interrogators to believe for themselves?

Vicka and the Visionaries

The Children:
• Vicka – The eldest visionary, extremely vivacious, sassy, defiant, and sometimes even rude, 18
• Jacob – The youngest visionary, gentle, kind, smart, and desperately in need of loving parental figures, 13
• Maria – The most devout visionary, extreme, passionate, strict, and quiet, 17
The Adults:
• Father Santo Bubello – A Hungarian-Croatian Priest sent by the Vatican to investigate the visions at Sikovo. He has aged himself prematurely with his “I’ve seen everything” attitude. Late 40’s-Early 50’s.
• Father Josef Dubrev – The somewhat zealous Parish Priest of Sikovo. Overzealous. Early 40’s. • Anna Franchini – a neurologist, parapsychologist, and expert of supernatural and paranormal happenings. Hired by the Vatican do run medical tests on the children. Gorgeous, extremely smart, and perhaps a bit unfeeling—a vicious career woman. 30’s.
