GAZSCHEBET

Gemma was on the way back from breaking up with her girlfriend when she crashed into Faith Callahan's car. Now she's stranded at the Callahans' modest Midwestern home, with nothing but corn and farm animals as far as the eye can see. As she waits for her ride, the irreligious Gemma discovers she's arrived on the evening of a very *particular* religious service for the Callahans, and whether she likes it or not...

Midsommar by way of Children of The Corn, Gazschebet is a terrifying (and frequently funny) horror play that explores the relationship between the rural and urban midwest. Skyler imbues the play with an immense layer of dread that lies thickly over the tense first act. When blood is finally drawn, the play explodes into a gory nightmare, never losing sight of the rich themes that lie underneath. It's the rare horror play that manages to be genuinely scary without losing its theatricality. Caught a reading of this and the whole room was on the edge of their seats.

This play left my skin crawling, in the very best way. I love a good thriller play, and GAZSCHEBET does not disappoint in that arena. Rich with lore, this play will excite and terrify you.

Abandon hope, all ye who enter this play. Hilarious, decadently Midwestern, and full of the occult: Gazschebet will bring you the chills of "The Babadook" and the pee-your-pants-punchlines of "Clue."

GEMMA…………………………..early 20s, not white, not from around here, has an attitude
she's trying her best to temper
FAITH CALLAHAN……………..50s, white, the matriarch, kind to a fault, a deeply genuine
person and deeply intimidating for that reason
JOE CALLAHAN………………...50s, a farmer, a family man, as playful and loving as he
is intensely cynical, more powerful than he lets on
TABBY CALLAHAN…………….early 20s, the responsible child by nurture if not
nature, enjoys any measure of power she can get
TRISTAN CALLAHAN…………..18 today, white/white-passing, the irresponsible child by
nurture and nature, something of a waif, more sheltered than he thinks he is
ALEX……………………………...early 20s, thoroughly pissed off, a voice on the
phone
