A sharp, hilarious satire that that examines white privilege and allyship, friendship, reality tv, the multitudes within the Latinidad that are often conflated together by the white American POV, and more! All of the characters, buffoonish papi chulos and all, are uniquely rendered. I so delighted in the irony of Tony and Brad developing their own white savior narrative that they kept to themselves while the audience is privy to the true wants, hopes, dreams, and needs of Jenni, Gloria, Celia, Sophia, and Maria. The comedy is a perfect vehicle for Reilly to skewer these problematic assumptions...

This is such a funny, daring, and smart play - LOLs from start to finish! I cannot wait to see a production staged someday and I'm so grateful to have found this work while I've been on the hunt for more femme farce writers of color.

Captivating, dangerously hilarious, and the ice cream birthday cake with confetti you didn’t know you needed. The funniest AND one of the best plays I’ve ever read. I cannot wait until it takes the world by storm, from colleges to the mainstage, to outside forests with birds and bugs singing to its tune (get out your insect repellant). Painfully relatable. The writing a breath of fresh air. In “The Jersey Devil is a Papi Chulo”, Reilly creates an incredible range of Latinx women and two blankitito dude-bros in an important social commentary mixed with heart, growth, y adobo.
