It's Just a Couch

10-minute play.
Unbeknownst to Jerry, his live-in girlfriend has placed an ad to sell a piece of their furniture. An item Jerry holds very dearly. Diane claims she needs a change. But is Diane wanting a new piece of furniture or a new beau?

Sometimes our smaller decisions are proxies for our larger ones, and nowhere is this more in evidence than this nuanced depiction of a relationship in trouble. A very relatable piece that somehow has an air of finality about it even while not offering a pat resolution.

I adored this fast-paced and witty interaction between a young couple in transition. The question is... is the transition just furniture?

Beautifully understated piece about what could be the end of a relationship or the fresh start of an older one that's in need for some upgrades or changes. This play had me laughing as I was thinking of my own relationship and the fact that I'm the one who would hang on to everything for years, but the one nice thing about compromise is that you begin to see the charm of giving in to the other one as long they are giving in a little to you.
