We Wear It

by Cassie M. Seinuk

10 MINUTE PLAY - When NOAH returns home from what was meant to be a night of Trivia and beer with a stitched-up and severely bruised face, his wife HANNAH is less than shocked to discover the reason for the attack -- his IDF hoodie. The couple is faced with the realities of the rise in antisemitism, and what's worse, they must decide how and what to tell their young children in the morning.

A chilling snapshot of a reality too many people refuse to see, coupled with a familiar parenting challenge. When is prejudice acceptable, and how do we explain that to our kids? Kudos to Seinuk for bringing this story vividly to life in an eminently relatable way - and extra points for Seinuk's casting notes.

Character Information

In regards to casting please note that Jews people are an ethnicity and a religion. Ashkenazi Jews, who are commonly white presenting, are overrepresented in the arts and pop culture. Please include Mizrahi, Sephardi, and Jews of Color in your casting pool. It is my strong preference that you cast Jewish actors for these roles. Regardless of an actor's religion/ethnicity, do not change their natural appearance to make them look more "Jewish," as this reinforces stereotypes that I am against portraying in my work.
