Have you ever been to Disney World and thought, “who the hell is in that mouse suit?” Then DoofyLand might be your thing.

DoofyLand is a satire of theme parks and Disney adults. It’s to Disney World what Avenue Q is to Sesame Street.

The story takes us backstage at the titular park, where the biggest “Doofy adult” you’ve ever met is starting her dream job of playing Doofy C. Horse, the Groovy Seahorse, the Mickey equivalent. She’s thrilled to live her life in the magic she used to feel. However, as she immerses herself in the fantasy of her role, she starts to act, talk, even think like Doofy. He’s even doing big ol’ musical numbers in her head. Ultimately, she needs to make a choice whether to face her painful reality or become Doofy…permanently.

DoofyLand is a bawdy musical satire that explores how easily our happy place becomes a cage, the music is very Disney-esque with a rock flair. Disney adults, this is your HAMILTON!

When I say this play is ridiculous, I mean it as a high compliment. Hilarious lines in a totally offbeat comedy! Dooftastic!!

Character Information

The DOOFY voice performer should also read for PA ANNOUNCER and, in Act 2, Scene 5, act as TOM CHAMPLIN.
  • Annabelle Champlain
ANNABELLE CHAMPLIN, our kind, idealistic heroine, has been obsessed with DoofyLandSeaRideFarmWaterPlace since age 4, when her dad first brought her family there. Now, a true “Doof-a-Dult,” Annabelle is finally realizing her dream job of actually playing Doofy at the park and living full time amidst “the Doofy enchanthood.” Unwaveringly optimistic, Annabelle tries to see the best in others, but perhaps adheres to all that DoofyLandSea promises at the expense of her own difficult truths. A mix of Cinderella and a kindergarten teacher who’s never off the clock. (Female, 25-35, Soprano)

  • Rory Thighmasker
RORY TIGHMASKER, a park employee, plays the consensus worst character, Preggo Greggo (a dimwitted pregnant male seahorse) but has higher aspirations. Masking his complete lack of self-esteem, Rory sees himself as too cool for all this Doofy stuff, but he is very much not. At the end of the day though, Rory’s too meek to be the bad boy he so desperately wants to resemble. However, meeting Annabelle helps him embrace his own truths. The closest thing the show has to a romantic male lead, which is really pretty sad for all involved. Canonically named after a Gilmore Girl. (Male, 28-38, Tenor)

  • Wispen Clorke
WISPEN ÉLYSÉES, an extremely French park employee, plays Princess Scubanita, the "face character princess" of DoofyLandSeaRideFarmWaterPlace. This is pretty unfortunate for her since she abhors the act known as “smiling”. Blunt, seemingly emotionless, and at times, a little scary. Totally over the job and not shy about it. Wispen’s enthusiasm for this job and world is the polar opposite of Annabelle’s, leading them to often clash. However, she/they are more than they want to put across. (Nonbinary/female/trans, 30-50)

  • Bill "Gudge" Gudgerson
“GUDGE," another park employee, is a down-on-his luck divorcee who works in the park playing Deefy, Doofy’s love interest. Gudge has major dorky dad energy and his misfortunes are very much self-caused. His employment at DoofyLand is part of an elaborate (but terrible) plan to spend more time with his kids. Let’s just say it involves the movie Mrs. Doubtfire but with less guaranteed familial interaction.

  • Stethany Gliesen
STETHANY GLEISEN, their boss, has only ever worked at DoofyLandSea RideFarm WaterPlace throughout her professional life. As Doofy Bunch Staff Supervisor, Stethany has dedicated her life to her job and maintaining that classic DoofyLandSea enchantment. However, her undying dedication to Doofy comes with some darker side effects, and may threaten to drag others into said darkness. Also, Stathany uses a lot of gen-Z slang in everyday conversation and she really shouldn’t. (Female, 35-45, Belty Soprano)

  • Doofy C. Horse, The Groovy Seahorse
DOOFY C. HORSE, THE GROOVY SEAHORSE is the park mascot for DoofyLandSeaRideFarmWaterPlace and company mascot for Duufcorp International Holdings Entertainment and Ball Pit Division! Doofy made his debut in a 1968 ad from Braumann’s Prison Laxativ, where he was known as Hilty the Hemorrhoid Horse. Over the past several decades, Doofy has further swam his way into the nation’s hearts, portraying everything from a sailor to an evidence tamperer. Today, Doofy is a beloved international symbol of Duufcorp International Holdings. Doofy has the personality of a fun-loving boy of no particular age, clean living, bashful around women, polite, naive and clever. This little character represents a spirit of laughship, enchanthood and friendfulness to people all over the earth. He also may attempt to eat your soul in the night if you wear his skin, just as a heads up.
