Seniors Catherine, Shawn, Chris, & Trevor wait for their final interviews and college decisions at their final BFA audition of the year. Although they’ve gone to different high schools, all of them have been at the same auditions together… except Liz, Catherine’s friend, who could only afford today’s audition. As they have vague and confusing interactions with the college representatives and comparisons threaten to tear them apart, the discovery that they are all in rehearsals for the same show at their respective schools, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, may be the key to them finally feeling like real people again. THE HOLDING ROOM looks at the pressure that students face as they prepare for college - financially, mentally, and socially.
