Madam Mezaray: F, 70s-80s. (Meh – Zuh – rae) Fortune Teller; speaks her mind without apology, intelligent, sharp-witted. Any ethnicity. She speaks with an accent, any accent from any nationality. The actor who portrays Madam Mezaray may double in the roll of “Debbie” (age: early 20s).
Charles Millstone: M 50s. Businessman and reality television celebrity. Wealthiest man on the planet. Determined, stubborn, smart, crafty, paranoid. Eric Morgan: M 30s – 40s. Mystery writer; once a bestselling author. Uncanny ability to “read” people and figure out complex scenarios. Worked with local police departments, and early in his adult years, he worked with the Federal Government. He wants desperately to get his spark back and write another good book and be back on the bestsellers’ list. He enjoys being recognized for his books. He struggles with embracing failure as a positive experience for growth and learning. He feels he must always prove himself; there must always be something in which he excels.
Emily Harris: F, Mid-30s. Charles Millstone’s right hand. Dedicated, determined, tenacious. Willing to do whatever she has to do to achieve her goals. Single-minded and obsessive.
Debbie: F, 20s. College student, server at the Blue Note Café. Somewhat introverted, desires to do a good job in all things, still learning the ropes of life. Poor judge of character. The actor who portrays Debbie may double in the roll of “Madam Mezaray”.
Detective Rebecca Parker: F, 30s – 50s. Professional, direct, no nonsense. Very cognizant of the fact that every action or reaction yields a result that one will be proud of or regret. Always wants to do her best. She wants to do it all herself.
Wilford Millstone: M, Late 20s. Son of Charles Millstone. Slacker, bully, womanizer, overall jerk. He is starved of real love.
Theodore Durst: M, 16 – 17 years-old. Son of Eleanor Durst, nephew of Charles Millstone. Intelligent, enthusiastic, fascinated by Global weather/climate/environment. He comes across as a pushover, but he is not. He is impulsive, doesn’t take a moment to think through the ramifications of an action.
Eleanor Durst: F, 40s. Sister to Charles Millstone, mother of Theodore. Businesswoman, philanthropist. Old-school elegant, truly cares about others; spends a lot of time in the United Kingdom. Very big fan of novelist Eric Morgan. She is struggling with alcoholism.
Gideon Walker: M, 30s – 40s. Former head chef at the Blue Note Café. Serious, ambitious, low tolerance for nonsense. He has many ideas and plans but doesn’t have the patience to follow procedure. His cooking is very organic and instinctive, and yet he is very skilled.
Troy Davis: M, 40s – 60s. Environmentalist and activist. Intelligent, dedicated, passionate. Sometimes he allows his passion to override his good sense.
