Moon Logic

by David Lipschutz

Akin to point-and-click adventure games of the late 80s/early 90s (think, the Kings Quest series), MOON LOGIC follows Sir Llewellyn as he comes to the final chapter of his quest to save Princess Nightingale and help restore the Kingdom of Lavendreer.

I have the pleasure of directing this play for the upcoming Ludington Area Center for the Arts short play festival this May. The actors are having a blast, and keeping me and each other in stitches! This is a ton of fun and a sure crowd pleaser!

The silliness of this play is delightful. I love the way the narrator teases and mocks Sir Llewellyn, even teaming up with the princess to mock him at times. The videogame structure is a blast, and David Lipschutz mines it for all possible comedy. This is that rare short play which can be enjoyed both by kids and by their parents - and everyone in between.

I had the pleasure of directing this piece for Rainy Day Artistic Collective and loved the experience. MOON LOGIC is funny and clever, but also an insightful and thought-out love letter to "retro" gaming that the nerd in me deeply appreciates. The characters create wonderful opportunities for actors to play, and the writing by DAVID LIPSCHUTZ also allows for a lot of fun design. A fabulous short play, highly recommended.
