Tennant has written an incredible one-act that shares an important piece of history without stripping these people of their humanity. I want to write so much more, but the words are escaping me. This is just such a beautiful, and unfortunately, timely piece of theatre and I encourage everyone to read it for themselves.

Growing up in Germany, the "White Rose" is present everywhere. What I find particularly impressive about Alaina Tennant's version of the material is the conciseness and density with which she tells everything there is to know about this resistance group, without it coming across as a recited Wikipedia article. Everything seems wonderfully natural and vivid, and it captures both the private and political motives of the "White Rose" in a nutshell; very human, very convincing and poetic.

This short play by Alaina Tennant tell just a small part of history when Hans Scholl and Alex Schmorell take action to fight for their country. The story stands by itself, but the history behind it will leave you wanting to know more about these characters and their actions. I will definitely read more by this author!
