CenterStage is a local professional theatre located in the Jewish Community Center of Rochester, NY since 1977. CenterStage presents a subscription series of plays and musicals. CenterStage produced NNPN Rolling World Premieres of Jason Odell Williams' "Church & State" (Off Broadway Alliance Best New Play Nominee) and Allison Gregory's "Wild Horses". Other new plays developed at CenterStage include "Survivors" (Wendy Kout), "Naked in Encino" (Wendy Kout), Welcome to the Neighborhood (Hank Kimmel), "Division Street" (Jason Odell Williams), "Oy Vey, It's the Calamari Sisters" and Mrs Kasha Davis in "There's Always Time for a Cocktail" (Off Broadway). CenterStage has also produced early productions of emerging works including "My Mother's Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding" (Irene Sankoff/David Hein), "Handle with Care" (Jason Odell Williams), "Imagining Madoff" (Deb Margolin), "Our Suburb" (Darrah Cloud), "The Last Schwartz" (Deborah Zoe Laufer) and "Stories from the Fringe...Women Rabbi's Revealed." CenterStage exists to entertain, enlighten and educate audiences with quality theatre that has universal appeal, generates community discussions and is relevant to the Jewish experience.
