Founded in 2006, SOUND THEATRE COMPANY is a disabled and BIPOC-led theatre company in Seattle, WA. Our mission is to empower artists to give voice to the dignity and diversity of the human experience—moving audiences toward a more just and compassionate world. Supporting the artists we work with, who are usually from historically marginalized communities, we will create more engaging, authentic, and impactful productions. Sound Theatre received an unprecedented four years of Theatre Puget Sound Gregory Awards for Outstanding Theater of the Year (‘14,’16,’17 & ‘19) and in 2020 was nominated for the City of Seattle Mayor’s Arts Award.
Sound Theatre seeks to amplify the experiences of communities silenced by systemic oppression. We accomplish this by providing a collaborative theatrical platform for excluded artists, audiences, and stories. We prioritize accessibility in our work, by reducing physical, cultural, and economic barriers to participation.
