South Dakota State University is the state’s largest, most comprehensive university with more than 200 programs and an enrollment of approximately 12,000 students. The department of Theatre and Dance is housed in the School of Performing Arts as part of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. South Dakota State University is the state’s largest, most comprehensive university with more than 200 programs and an enrollment of approximately 12,000 students. The department of Theatre and Dance is housed in the School of Performing Arts as part of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. The program is located in an exquisite new facility, the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center. The facility includes a state-of-the-art 830 seat proscenium theatre, 200-seat black box theatre, fully integrated dance studio and exceptional support spaces. The program offers curricula leading to the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Theatre with minors available in Dance and Theatre Arts Administration. State University Theatre and Dance is proud to host the Festival of New Plays every fall, and produces at least three additional productions and two dance concerts as part of the academic year. During the summer, the department produces a four-show season as part of Prairie Repertory Theatre.
