Lovely in its simplicity, Christopher Plumridge gives heart-touching depth in a few pages. This is never an easy conversation but one that always requires honesty and compassion. As a nurse, I hope this is a piece that will encourage discussion of end-of-life care far before we reach that door ourselves.

    Heartbreak, beauty, peace and comfort.
Everything that you could want in a tender end-of-life moment, delivered here, simply and expertly, by Mr Plumridge. He elicits the kind of emotion in these three pages that a lesser playwright can struggle to do in 120. Reverent and honest, this is one of the best and most complete plays I have read in a long time. Well done.

A very calm, realistic piece. This is precisely why it's so unsettling—nothing can be changed. We know exactly what will happen, as it inevitably must in such situations. It's a touching scene. The doctor is ON CALL, and her words are the patient's first 'CALL' from the other world. As if life's final bell were ringing for the first time.
