September: the year before Marriage Equality is recognized by the Supreme Court. There’s to be a wedding in Iowa at the Old Eckhart house. Andy, an ACT-Up NY veteran, and his husband Stanley will host the wedding of their nephew Brendan and his fiancé Eugene. But this happy occasion is threatened when the young couple venture out into the neighborhood. A confrontation with locals, the police, a gun, and the fact that Eugene is Black, will force this American family to face hard truths about what it means to belong, to trust, and to forgive. What are we willing to do to ensure that everyone feels safe and welcome in our house? It's a hopeful comedy packed with honest truths in a style similar to "Somebody Somewhere."
