In December of 2022, a chosen family of friends, lovers and neighbors gather for their annual holiday celebration for the first time since COVID-19 hit the city. Angela - who hosts the celebration every year in her apartment - has gone all out to make this the best party to date. When the festivities hit unexpected snags, the cracks in the foundation of this family begin to show.

    Premiere Stages, the professional Equity theatre in residence at Kean University, is pleased to recognize Orphan Christmas as a Semi-Finalist for the 2026 Premiere Play Festival. It rose through a competitive process to become one of 65 Semi-Finalists out of 894 submissions. The play is an engaging exploration of conflicts between personal rituals and the pressures of the outside world, layering in economic struggles, cultural shifts, and ideas of family.
