A haunting play that, yes, is loudly about climate change, and is quietly about nearly everything else: the desire for legacy, the guilt of surviving, the disposability of the present, the absurdity of caring, the grief of losing control, the fury at the past. Six brilliant roles and huge opportunities for creative design. May it be a script remembered by all – or not.

The Playwrights Foundation Bay Area literary council readers advanced Golden Record Club as a finalist for the 47th Bay Area Playwrights Festival.

This script is a sensitive, highly nuanced exploration of teenage Asian America in the age of climate catastrophe. And it’s funny, too! Readers leaned into the wild spirit of this script, and the humanity with which its characters have been rendered. We also loved the Alien.

We hope this play is considered for further development and investigation.

I was so moved by this play. Life is a lot for these teenage girls. They have to think about their present love lives, their futures at college and the fact the their planet is a hot mess. I haven't read a play before that looks at climate change with this much urgency. These characters are trying to pass something along for aliens that are visiting after the human race has gone extinct. This is such a great ensemble piece. Each character is crafted with such complexity and given moment to show their depth.
