I think most of us believe that, at some point, we'll wake up and feel like "real adults," but this play tenderly demonstrates that you can continue growing and developing at any age—even curmudgeonly Irv, who seems to have given up on the future after the loss of his wife. I love all of the humor in this play, and how subtle the transformation feels as we watch these two characters grow closer. It's lovely that older actors might get the opportunity to play spry, dimensional humans like these!

04.23.26 - Morey Norkin's work has such a deft humanistic touch to it that you can't help but be enthralled by his characters. You root for Irv and Sheila from the get go. And while Sheila, who seems like she doesn't lack for suitors, has every reason to leave Irv to his curmudgeonly ways, she's determined to wake him back up to life's possibilities, age be damned. Morey gives me hope for my own future.

Bittersweet, funny, and full of heart, Love, Grudgingly follows two seniors stumbling toward connection with wit and grace. Norkin captures grief, stubbornness, and late-in-life romance in a way that feels both deeply specific and universally moving.
