Fourteen-year-old orphan Kasia has vanished from the Chicago cottage orphanage Edith helps manage under Jack Douglas, the priest newly-appointed to oversee the facility. Siân, the orphanage’s seamstress, and Brynn, a stubborn and fiery child hellbent on defying authority, urge Edith to closely monitor Jack, but the result has dire consequences. When Kasia’s horrifying fate is revealed, Edith is faced with a choice: to proceed with her vows to the Church, or to seek answers knowing she may risk her safety, and the safety of others, to do so.

    If John Patrick Shanley's DOUBT had been imagined by Quentin Tarantino, it couldn't possibly come close to what Ashleigh Ann Gardner delivers in CORPUS. A tight-knit group of young women, all victims of abuse at a Catholic orphanage, must unearth what has happened to a young girl who mysteriously disappears. At a time where survivors continue to feel silenced and powerless, Gardner gives them a megaphone. The play's stunning moments of high theatricality will have audiences gasping throughout.
