Lost Girls Theatre is seeking scripts for our Getting Lost Reading Series, which is done in partnership with the Deering Estate at Cutler. We're strictly looking for plays that fit our mission of using theatre to create wonder. This includes but is not limited to epic quests, fairy tales, science fiction, magical realism, plays with heightened language, plays that muse on the nature of what is real and what is fictional, and plays that fit our tagline of "theatre for people who never grew up."
We are primarily interested in plays with female protagonists and plays that can feature our feature our company members, who are primarily in their 20s and early thirties. The majority of our company members are Latina/o.
Lost Girls Theatre is a relatively new theatre company based in Miami, Florida -- we're planning on producing our first full production in 2016. Plays selected for the Getting Lost Reading Series will be heavily considered for future production.
Right now, we're actively looking to fill two open slots for the 2015-2016 Getting Lost Reading Series. There's two specific things that we're looking for -- a science fiction play and plays by women of color that fit our mission. If we could find a science fiction play by a woman of color (the playwriting equivalent of Octavia Butler's work), we'd be ecstatic.
