Steep Theatre creates powerful productions of plays by today's most exciting playwrights, featuring the work of Chicago's hottest theatre artists in a beautiful, intimate space. Steep is known as a home for finely tuned ensemble work. Founded by three actors in 2000 with little more than a shoestring budget and a desire to work in an open, ensemble atmosphere, the company has become a close knit, dedicated group of 31 actors, directors, designers, and playwrights driven by a shared commitment to the company's mission: to bring out the everyday truths in the stories we tell through ensemble work and to reach out to non-traditional theatre-goers by seeking out stories and creating stories relevant to them.
