The Bard's Town Theatre (BARD THEATRE) is a 501c3 nonprofit theatre located on Bardstown Road in the Louisville, KY artistic borough known as "The Highlands." Staging its first performance May 8, 2011, Bard Theatre earned a "Best Theatrical Production" award for its production of "Chasing Ophelia," and also a "Best Live Theatre" nod for its work overall. Instantly deemed "a force to be reckoned with," it was blast off from there.

In the 10 years since, Bard Theatre has produced the most live theatre, the most comedy performances, and the most improv performances in the state of Kentucky.

The Bard's Town Theatre takes its name quite seriously..."Bard." Rather than being a Shakespearean theatre (as the name seems to suggest), The Bard's Town Theatre actually looks to do what Shakespeare did in his day: focus on the creation of new work. While we love Shakespeare (perhaps more than most), and we love Beckett, Stoppard, Coward, Simon, Kushner, and so on, our goal is to produce the works that haven't been performed over and over again.

This was not the first Brian Walker play we have produced at Bard Theatre, and it won't be the last. Like just about all of Brian's work that I have read/seen/produced, HIGH TIDE is such a wonderfully honest work, and comes through Brian's unique lens. He keeps you on your toes. Highly recommend.
