This is my second encounter with JuCoby's writing, and I can't wait to read more. Each of 5's characters is real, appealing, provocative, believable. I could listen to them talk and watch them interact in their world for hours. JuCoby is clearly interested in themes of love, reconciliation, legacy, and time, and weaves narrative through those with a graceful intention. Would LOVE to see the "magical" elements of this one come to life on stage. A place for Right Now, if there ever was one.

Justice Hehir has created such an engaging, curious, fun world with characters who are a squirmy joy to get to know. Her dialogue is sharp, winding and overlapping in wholly believable ways. This play depicts shame, people succumbing to it and overcoming it together. It's a thoughtful, sexy peek into when and how we choose to reveal our vulnerable sides and share (sometimes cramped) space with others doing the same.

A seething satire that punches you right in the gut mid-doomscroll. SMJ deftly uses surrealism and humor to shine a flashlight on the underbelly of today's American Everyman. This play is both a horrifying cautionary tale and an unexpected call to empathy that your brain won't soon let go of.

A vulnerable, sensual story about what it means to claim one's freedom, this play is a special take on the Western form. Come for the gorgeous prose, stay for the deeply nuanced portrayal of Black people seeking the most out of love and life.

BILLIE is everything you want in a love story: sensuality, confidence, grief, humor, self acceptance. It's a beautiful example of a play's capacity to choose intentional windows of time to bring to life that provide larger context for lives fully lived. Can't wait to read the rest of the Oklahoma cycle!

Quick, funny, and unabashedly weird, this play asks us what sensations are the most important to preserve as humanity gets deeper into survival mode. It questions what motivates us on a primal level - to bear pain, to have a family, to feel safe. As our circumstances for life get increasingly dire, what is the most valuable to us in the day-to-day?

Full of life, this play functions like a spell, whipping you into the fervor of teenhood and carrying you through with humor and blunt force honesty. A really good time that would no doubt come to life beautifully in performance.

This is special script, weaving together your favorite elements from mysteries, thrillers, memory plays, and tragedies. It's crafted specifically for the stage, giving directors and actors plenty to play with and decide for themselves. The non-stop pacing never lets up in the best way. The ending rattled me. Images from this one will be with me for a while.

JYOTI'S BRIDGE is a kind of love letter to the self, an acknowledgement that we can't exist outside of one another, that life has to be lived in the moment. This play zooms out far enough to reveal how fleeting the significant moments of our lives are, how malleable gender is, and how emotions get trapped in our bodies until we choose to face them. Truly a unique piece of theater with plenty of exciting potential for design, especially lighting and sound.

A strange, fast, hilarious, American comedy that manages to touch on everything from the immigrant experience to the ethics of media consumption to seeing your non-Artist family as artists. It asks you to look at it, and yourself, for what it is, for as long as you can. Absolutely worth a read (and its upcoming world premiere). The Yogurt of it all!
