In Mother of the Bride two very different women are brought together because of their lesbian daughters' wedding the night before. The mothers meet up for breakfast, and reflect on their relationships with their daughters over the years. These women don't always see eye to eye, but they are now bonded together as something they never expected to be...family. This ten minute short play expresses the joy, sorrow, and even regret felt after a big event like a wedding that makes you question what you believe and changes you for the better.

This is a lovely short play about unexpected connections and friendship -- and what it takes to become a family. Lisa and Carrie have extremely different backgrounds (captured elegantly by Hebert's specific dialogue and tone), but they arrive on common ground by way of love for their daughters.
