Vigilantes

Opening on a Sunday morning, friends Gail, Georgie, and Emma sit around in a dorm room. They are shaken and nervous, and discuss the previous night. We learn that they have just committed a premeditated murder on their dear friend Tina's abusive boyfriend. This play asks what it means to be complicit, what it means to be loyal, and the ethics of taking someone else's justice into your own hands.

The kind of person that our society loves to hate. An unfeminine woman, unnuanced feminist, and angry lesbian. Abrasive on the outside, deeply caring on the inside. Most people ignore her. She just wants to defend her loved ones.

  • Emma
The peacemaker. She wants to make everything ok for everyone, sometimes at her own expense. She tends to put herself on the back burner and gets bulldozed by louder, stronger-willed people.

A college boy. Normally passive and lacking backbone. He can easily become a pawn to more charming, outgoing people. He feels guilty, deserved or not. Not a knight in shining armor. Just wants to do the right thing.
